"Jesus cares about my dreams" indeed, Ali. Beautiful! I'm posting another Jane Austen Short tomorrow that has a shout-out to you because you suggested Elinor and Anne as stars of the next story. Hope you enjoy it!
That's so cool! I visited Ireland a loooooong time ago, but will never forget how beautiful it was. And OH my goodness. When I visited my dad I got a tortilla at this little cafe 10 minutes away from his house almost every day. Ha! I drenched it in a salmorejo sauce!
I know!! me too. You can have tortilla for breakfast in a random cafe and it will be good. It's something I miss when I'm in another country: cafes being open all day, people enjoying meals in the street...
Ali 😭 hearing these poems be read by you was such a treat. I could feel all the feels in every word. I always forget Substack has this feature… I must try it.
Both of these are stunning, but I have to say the second is my favorite. The way you interweaved quotes from your favorite novel while also a retelling of your own life story—the times you’ve been in Paris. How each has been different, and in a way, the same. Brilliantly done. Loved them!!
I got the inspiration to read from Rachael Watson! She reads hers and I loved listening. I'm so glad you enjoyed listening to them too! It was a little unnerving but it's good practice. I'm going to force myself to keep doing it (heh). Thank you for your kind words, my friend!
this is lovely! the beating heart of Paris and what it *feels* like to stand in a place you've dreamed of so long came through so brightly and clearly. Also - I identified with this SO much. I was blessed to be able to travel a lot within the U.S. in my 20s but I've never been to Europe and always dreamed of going (I think we're finally going next year:) and it was also SO refreshing and encouraging to hear someone talk about bills and the struggles of that! it's something I"m striving for in my work too - how can I talk about the workday as well as the beauty?
Believing and hoping you’ll get there, Claire! My dad was stationed in Germany twice and I lived there again as a young adult so I was lucky to be close for a handful of years. I am glad you were encouraged! I made a commitment to myself to be honest in my poems while also being tactful. The balance of honesty and over sharing is hard in this day and age 😅 But my aim and hope is only ever to encourage those who might be going through/have gone through similar struggles that they’re not alone ❤️

Thanks, Kate! And—oh my goodness! I am soooooo looking forward to it!
I love prose poems and these, wow!! 💜 so beautifully written
Thank you so much for reading! Also, I saw that you’re from Spain. I was just there for two and a half weeks visiting my dad! He lives in Rota.
that’s so lovely!! I’ve never been to the south but it looks so cool
It’s a gorgeous place! Incredible food (which I’m sure is consistent across Spain ;) )
I think it is!! hahaha. I was living in Ireland for a while and now I came back and it’s so nice to eat real tomatoes and tortilla
